JACK CALVER
I am a Sydney-based actor & producer, with dual citizenship in the UK, and what makes me unique is that I am queer (which no one in the arts ever has been). Born & raised in Adelaide, I set up my own theatre company, Glassroom Company, at age seventeen and presented my play Clanstow in the 2018 Adelaide Fringe (on the same week as my Year 12 formal!) I then produced and acted in Nick Enright's Blackrock for the 2019 Adelaide Fringe and sealed my acting fate by auditioning for the Flinders Drama Centre, where I studied for four long years until 2022. My graduation show Away by Michael Gow was directed by Wayne Harrison AM, former artistic director of the Sydney Theatre Company.
In 2023, I relocated to the Oz's Emerald City of Sydney, where I understudied in Sydney Theatre Company’s production of The Goat, or Who is Sylvia? (dir. Mitchell Butel) alongside Claudia Karvan. This was followed by performances in Unfair Verona (dir. Eezu Tan), which toured to Adelaide in 2024, & The Wind in the Willows by the Australian Shakespeare Company (dir. Glenn Elston & Marianne Bragge). In 2024, I worked on Hot Tub at Belvoir 25A (dir. Riley Spadaro) & The Queen's City of the South at Qtopia (dir. Ryan Whitworth-Jones). 2025 work includes Posh at the Old Fitz Theatre (dir. Margaret Thanos), the feature film Jimpa (dir. Sophie Hyde) & short films Compulsion (dir. Jack Langford) & sex ed ft. Sabrina Carpenter (dir. Scarlett Scherer).
When I'm not continuously working on my projects under extreme stress (all self-induced, may I add), I am usually quoting or watching The Real Housewives or asking ChatGpt to write me stories about the day I'll meet Beyonce.
